As a valued member of the NCCA, we are delighted to invite you to attend the opening of Zuster Furniture’s showcase for the 2014 Melbourne Indesign Festival.
Due to the Dutch/Australian theme, the NCCA has been approached by Zuster Furniture and Nexus Designs to attend the official opening of the ‘Duyfken’ pop-up bar and the launching of the Duyfken furniture collection, which will take place on Saturday 23 August from 6.00-9.00pm in collaboration with Mr Willem Cosijn – Consul-General of the Netherlands.
As part of this year’s entry for Melbourne Indesign, Zuster Furniture has opted to tell the story of ‘inception’ by telling the story of the Duyfken – the Dutch ship captained by Willem Janszoon that is credited with the first authenticated European discovery of Australia in 1606
Zuster Furniture has been designing and manufacturing high-end furniture for 20 years. Meyer Sibbel immigrated to Australia in 1954 and after running his second generation building business, he joined his daughters in 1994 to manufacture furniture, keeping the Dutch clean line aesthetic.
The Indesign event runs over two days and is attended by Australia’s leading interior designers and architects. The event has been held bi-annually since 2004 (previously named ‘Saturday in Design’) to showcase the most revolutionary ideas and game-changing new products from high-end international and regional brands and leading architecture and design talent.
The event unites multiple showrooms and pop-up spaces transformed by conceptual installations and product launches, international guests, topical industry seminars, emerging designer showcases, workshops, demonstrations, networking drinks and much more.
