Elmer Funke Kupper is Managing Director and CEO of the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). He started in this position in October 2011. He is also a director of ASX Clearing Corporation Limited, ASX Clear Pty Limited, ASX Clear (Futures) Pty Limited, ASX Settlement Corporation Limited, ASX Settlement Pty Limited and Austraclear Limited.
Before joining the ASX, Mr Funke Kupper was Managing Director and CEO of Tabcorp Holdings Limited from July 2007 to June 2011. During his time at Tabcorp he was also Chairman of the Australasian Gaming Council. He joined Tabcorp in February 2006 as Chief Executive Australian Business and was Acting Chief Executive Officer from March 2007.
In June 2011, Tabcorp demerged its casinos business from its wagering and gaming businesses to create two separately listed companies. At the time of the demerger, Mr Funke Kupper handed over the leadership of the two new companies to the respective division heads.
Between 1995 and 2005 Mr Funke Kupper held several senior positions with the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ). He was a member of the bank’s Management Board. During his time at ANZ, his roles included Group Head of Risk Management, Managing Director Personal Banking and Wealth Management and Group Managing Director Asia Pacific.
Elmer is also on the Board of Advisors of the NCCA.
