April 2016

Dear Members,

Welcome to the April edition of the NCCA Newsletter.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that The Langham Melbourne has become the newest Supporting Partner of the NCCA. Already a favourite with many of our Members, the Langham has done a stellar job at hosting a number of signature events of the Chamber and we are looking forward to continuing this relationship with the Langham in the years to come.

Last month, we had two great events on our calendar. At the Quarterly Economic Breakfast, we were honoured to have Rabobank’s Executive Vice-President and Chief Economist, Wim Boonstra, keynote to our Members on the direction of the global economy and how it will impact our businesses here in Australia. Next to this, we held our first Networking Drinks of the year at New Amsterdam in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD laneways.

This month, our annual NCCA King’s Day Business Breakfast is fast approaching again. On the 29th of April, we will have the new Victorian Multicultural Commissioner Helen Kapalos – whom many of you will know as one of Australia’s premier TV presenters – as our special guest at the Langham Hotel. She will join us in celebrating our national holiday and outline the importance of Victoria’s multicultural heritage. Tickets are available now, so make sure you book soon!

Next to our signature King’s Day event, we are very excited to announce that we will be hosting the 2016 TEDxBinnenhof Viewing Party at Engineers Australia’s fantastic new state-of-the-art offices – 30 stories up on 600 Bourke Street. The Viewing Party will showcase three of the best TED Talks from the event in The Hague as well as a fantastic local TED Talk from Aipoly’s co-founder Alberto Rizzoli. Aipoly is a smartphone app that uses artificial intelligence to help the blind understand and explore their surroundings and received critical acclaim at last year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The Consul-General of the Netherlands, Willem Cosijn, will open the event and we are expecting many attendees from the various European Chambers in Melbourne, so the evening will provide you with a unique opportunity to meet and network with a lot of new and familiar faces. Held on Thursday the 26th of May, this is a unique and free event and is not to be missed!

On top of this, we will be holding our second Quarterly Economic Breakfast of the year at the Langham on the 11th of May. Details will be released soon, so watch this space!

As always, we hope you enjoy reading our newsletter and we look forward to seeing you at our next events.

Met vriendelijke groet!

Sander van Amelsvoort

Internship Request

From time to time we get requests at the NCCA from young Dutch professionals enquiring about possible internships at Australian companies. Should your company be in a position to help out, please let us know by emailing

One of our NCCA members and former Board Member, Paul Kattestaart has asked to post this on his behalf.

Dear NCCA Members,

RE: Marketing internship requested

A former Dutch business associate has contacted me whilst he is seeking to organise an internship for his daughter, Anne-Carlijn.

Anne-Carlijn is currently studying a Bachelor degree with a major in Marketing. She is looking for a full-time internship for 16 weeks commencing in September 2016. She can be described as an ambitious, smart, hard-working, fun-loving young lady.

There are a couple of conditions the university has put in place:
  • 50% of the workload should be participatory and 50% should focus on research she conducts on behalf of the organisation.
  • Work activities could for example include: sales, market research, corporate communication, event organisation, etc.
  • Resume available on request.
It would be great if any interested members could contact me. Referrals are also more than welcome.

Thanks for your consideration.

Best regards,

Paul Kattestaart
