Orange Elevator Pitch

The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce Australia (NCCA) launches the ‘Orange Elevator Pitch’. With this initiative the NCCA aims to provide more background information to members about members.

Every week the NCCA will introduce a member that has a story to share with the NCCA Network. This allows other members to better understand the depth and breadth of the NCCA Network and provides opportunities to network for business.

Who: Helene Hagemans

What: Senior Consultant - Saxton Speakers Bureau

Tell us something about your background

I studied Art History at the University of Amsterdam and after graduating in 1995, I moved to Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh city became my hometown for the next five years. I set up my own art consultancy and co-founded a gallery called Galerie Vietnam.

In 2000 I moved to Australia and have been living in an around Melbourne ever since (Mount Macedon, Barwon Heads, St. Kilda and now South Melbourne).

Until 2008 I worked as a gallery manager at Axia Modern Art in Armadale. I also still had my own art consultancy.

In June 2008 I decided it was time for a career change. Not knowing exactly what I wanted to do, I first spend three months in Cape Town (where my parents where living at the time). Then I worked in Loyalty Marketing for about 18 months after which I accepted an interim position as General Manager at a Private Investigations firm. In January 2013 I joined Saxton Speakers Bureau as a Senior Consultant.

Not sure where all these different experiences will lead me to.....

What makes a you / your company successful?

Saxton is the oldest and foremost speakers' bureau in the Southern hemisphere.

Since its foundation (in 1965), Saxton has exclusively respresented many of Australia's leading speakers such as Ita Buttrose, Layne Beachley, Mick Doohan, Linda Nicholls, Mark Bouris, Rachel Botsman, Mike Munro, Megan Quinn, Rod McGeoch, Roger Corbett, Michael Carr-Gregg and many more.

The fundamental reason for Saxton's success is its people - it's the passion, creativity and personal contacts that has made all the difference.

What should we be asking you about at the next NCCA function?

Anything! Perhaps we can have a conversation about how to find what you really want to do.
